Carmel Piano Lessons
"There's nothing remarkable about it.
All one has to do is hit the right keys
at the right time & the instrument plays itself."
[Johann Sebastion Bach]
Lori Lewis has recently moved to Carmel California
Lori taught piano lessons professionally in San Diego for many years. She is sad to leave her previous students as they have become friends but looks forward to new relationships with aspiring pianists in the Monterey Bay area.
| Lori lewis' Piano Teaching Method |
|
Lori Lewis received her A.M.M. in Piano from the University of Manitoba, Canada. She has been teaching and performing piano music ever since.
Besides her private students, Lori taught for the Canadian Bureau for the Advancement of Music. She also has taught the Yamaha Music School courses. Altogether, Lori has 35 plus years experience in both teaching and playing piano for dinners, weddings and other special events.
In recent years she developed a method of teaching adults that eliminates a lot of fundamentals and concentrates on an easy, logical chord system that takes a shorter time to learn to play the piano. This approach is popular with adults, who do not have the years to learn as do children who start at a young age.
This approach also lets adult students play the songs they want to play, rather than going through a music course with unknown melodies. It makes learning fun and creative.

"Although we have a piano at home, it had been over 20 years since my last lesson and I found myself wanting to play again. I met Lori Lewis while she was playing at Nordstroms and with her patience and guidance I was playing the piano again - enough to impress my kids and show them that their Dad actually had some musical skills up his sleeve. Lori is a great teacher who can teach at any level. She was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her to beginners and advanced piano players alike."

When I first met Lori she was playing piano in Nordstrom. I approached her and inquired if she also taught. I had been looking for a piano teacher and had met a couple other prospective teachers, however when I met Lori, she was very personable and friendly. Right then and there I made an appointment to meet with her. At our first meeting she made me feel at ease - Lori's style of teaching is exceptional! She is very patient and made me very comfortable - I highly recommend her!

I studied piano with Lori Lewis in San Diego. She is a very good teacher and willing to work on what I wanted to know as well as teaching me what I needed to know to be able to do what I wanted while making lessons fun and interesting. I was especially glad that she wanted my playing to be as perfect as it could be and was willing to keep working on difficult areas as long as necessary. i learned a great deal and have gained some confidence about my playing that I did not think I would. I would certainly recommend Lori as a piano teacher for anyone from beginner (as I was) to advanced.

Teaching second-and third-time around piarno students has to be most challenglng - and Lorl Lewis tackles those challenges head-on with tact, tenacity and cheerful humor. In my case, basic timing had not been addressed by my previous teachers and Lori's thinking outside the box won the day with the classical and popular.music I wanted in my repertolre. I wlsh she had been my piano teacher from the beginning! Her music knowledge coupled with her positive, happy personality are more reasons to recommend her heartily to aspiring musicians.
